My background: I received my education at the University of Denver and studied fine art and illustration at the art center college of design.  I began my career as a freelance illustrator with works featured in Vogue magazine amongst others.  I have also had the opportunity to illustrate some wonderfully inspiring books such as the Little Tern.

Who I am:  I am a draw-er, an illustrator, an illuminator, an interpreter , a mother

What I do:  I strive to create inventive, fantastically beautiful drawings incorporating refreshing color and a love of language to imbue a gentle joy and insight to the soul with uplifting talismans of hope. 

My tools: Pencils, pens, India ink , sharpies, pastels, water colors, charcoal, crayons, scissors, glue glitter, thick paints , think paints and all sorts of mixed media

My inspirations: Shakespeare, words, trees unfortunate looking animals and bugs, courage, Bonnard, Prendergast, architecture, sergeant, daring to fail, hope  and this quote by Henri Matisse “ I wouldn’t mind turning into a vermillion goldfish”

In Loving Memory of Lisa Mann Dirkes. On November 23, 2011 Lisa Mann Dirkes tragically passed away after a long and heroic battle with breast cancer. Lisa is survived by her family and has left a wonderful legacy of artwork, which in her final months she prepared to be reproduced and shared on the website you are now viewing. Lisa's spirit will live on through her artwork and a portion of all sales will be donated in her name to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
